  • spark at coil none at plugs 93 LT1

    Like it says.

No spark at the plugs but I have it at the coil. I'm thinking cap and rotor issue?

I have a spare optispark laying around. It ran the other lt1
Just when warm made it run like shit. So I know the optical sensor in that's no good.

But mine has done this before. Runs great one day go out to start it the next and nothing. Just cranks. With spark at the coil.

So let it sot for a few days and it starts and runs like nothing happened.

So is it time for a cap and rotor?

Convert it to a vented opti, there are threads out there with the how-to

is spark making it from the coil to the opti? Id test that wire first.

Tested the wire going to the opti and its getting spark. Shocked the shit out of me too. Haha

But its running now. Hit the key yesterday and let it crank for a good 30 seconds straight when I let off the key it coughed like it was trying to start.

Then I kept cranking and let off and it did it twice more.

So finally I laid on it and it hit to start let off it coughed like crazy hit the key gave it a little gas and it sputtered to life and runs great. I don't get it

Sounds like it was flooded or choked for fuel.

I'm not sure what was going on with it. But it does it when its wet. Its only happened once before when it was wet so I don't know if it will happen every time. I'm thinking about doing a cap and rotor and sealing everything up tight

Here's a video of what it does.

                  Huh, thats a neat trick.

Staying tuned as it's piqued my curiosity.

That makes no seance at all.

if it was flooded it would struggle once trying to start, sounds like it just gets signal and fires.

Coil, ICM, fuel pressure, plug gap, vats?

Thats weird, but word of caution i can guarantee youre going to be replacing a starter if you keep constantly cranking like that. Mine started to overheat priming my oil pump which was only like 30 seconds.

I would put a fuel pressure gauge on it and test for leakdown

Also did you try flooring it while cranking? That triggers the clear flood mode (kills injectors)

Well if it is flooded that would eliminate the vats, if I remember the circuit vats kills signal to fuel pump.

I did floor it but that helped it stumble a little.

I don't get it either. And trust me I blew some starter already lol

I can't figure it out either. Watch this all be the opticrap.
I'm willing to put money on it. I haven't had ICM tested. But I swapped to a new msd coil. And nothing changed.

If its the fuel pump I guess its time for the trap door mod.

Went out 30 min or so ago. Hit the key and it started. The problem seems to be gone. But I'll swap the icm and try that

My van did that last winter. Fouled plugs. Unfortunately, it was really cold and my van doesn't fit my garage.
Including the tow it cost me $700 .

I my defense, it did act just like the time y car threw a timing chain.
