  • Mallory 685 Problems.

Well I couldn't get the car to start with the box hooked up. (Partly dead battery)
So I bypassed it with the loop connector.
    Car started up.
Shut it off, hooked the box back up.
Starts up, let it run for like 30 seconds and the RPM next dropped from ~2000.
So I shut it off, tried playing with the Start Retard Timing. Had it set to 5*.
Changed it to .1*, tried cranking. Wouldn't go then boom backfire in the manifold.

I looped the connector again and it started right up.

So obviously its something with the box.

Anyone know what the settings should be?

Well I removed the grounds and power from under the hood and wire wheels all the bolts, and nuts and ring connectors. Put her back together and she starts right up with the box hooked up, even on the .1* degree setting. Still idles high but hoping thats because its cold. (Its in the garage don't want to let it warm up in there).

      New issue.

I set the box to 3000rpm limit for setting one.
Set the 2 step to 2500.
I tapped into the brown wire coming off the clutch switch.
      The main RPM limit works.
The 2 step limit does not.

Can anyone concur that that the brown wire is the side I want to tap into? I don't seem to be getting 12v off it. From my understanding though one is always how with 12v and the other becomes hot when the clutch is depressed.
