  • lt1 swap 96 firebird, 94 lt1

So I am in the middle of my lt1 swap.
    some info
my car: 96 firebird 3.8 auto
    Donor car: 94 z28 t56
besides the swap i am also doing a 6 speed swap. both engines are pulled but I'm having and obvious issue, so obviously the 94 engine harness isn't plug and play. first thing i notice is that on the passenger fender there are two connectors on my car whereas on the 94 there is only one. I know shbox has the diagrams but i can't find what to do with these. also I was pondering just using the 94 pcm/knock sensor/opti and buying a 96 6 speed harness and just not using the connector for the relucter in the timing cover. is this a possibility and would it be plug and play with my 96 v6 auto dash harness? I'm a major rookie and that is part of the reason i went this route, i wanted to learn and also have tremendous sentimental value. any help would be appreciated and i apologize for the punctuation. i have everything else pretty much done and this is the biggest issue as silly as that may sound lol. Thanks

Looking through the Shbox diagrams now. Already found two wires you're going to have to map. Give me some more time I'll map the wires out.

Alright hopefully this will all make sense.

The two plugs that are on the passenger side shock tower - C100 is a 10-wire connector, C105 is 8-wire.

C100 is what you have on both the 1994 and the 1996 harnesses. The wires on the 1994 harness match what's in the 1996 harness.

C105 is what you're MISSING on the 1994 engine harness. You can buy the connector from eficonnection.com if you'd like - it'd probably be the best way to go. That way if you ever need to disconnect the harness, you can unplug it - rather than having it hard wired. Obviously you'd only need the one side of the connector.

For C105 on your engine BAY harness (the harness that stays in the car and plugs into the engine harness)
          C105.jpg
What this means is you have to go to the connector and cavity I put in the column on the right and run that wire to the C105 connector and cavity on your 1996 engine bay harness.

Basically the wires that are in the 1994 engine harness were moved to other plugs and cavities that are empty in the 1996 harness. Otherwise, the rest of the connections appear to be OK or won't cause any problems. For example, wires that don't match but are V6 only I didn't point out.
