  • Pretty sure my fuel pump is toast!

Went to go get ice cream, came out to start my car and crank but no start.

Listen for my usually pretty noisy pump and nothing.
The relay in the kick panel is clicking, tomorrow I'll swap it out for a known working one just to make sure.

    No pressure at the rail...

    Good replacements?

I have a Walbro, I'm pretty sure they make the Racetronix. I also used the Racetronix harness. I would highly recommend the trap door method if you've haven't already done it.

I'll probably just drop the tank again, all new suspension parts and duals so it won't be too bad.

It was a V6 pump so I assume I was on borrowed time.

Just went outside, disconnected battery, reconnected it and plugged my scantool in. Cycled the key and the fuel pump turned on and sounded normal...

Not sure if the PCM was having a brainfart or what was going on.

Pump could have over heated. Is it low on fuel?

Nope, I never run it under 1/4 tank, and had actually just put $20.00 in it, so it was reading between 1/2 and 3/4.

My pump was dead, replaced it, tested pump with jumpers and if I hit it 2-3 times with test lead it would start and run. Probably same situation. Its bad.

I just had the same issue again, ran it, shut it off. Went to move the car and it would not start.

Pulled the plug, the pump is getting 7.55v at the body.

Dropped the tank, put a new(er) tank in with a OEM pump.

All out of my donor Z28.

Runs, has good fuel pressure. Good enough for now.
Racetronix kit is on the to do list.

these things are quite weird when the pump goes bad. mine died in a similar way and when it was towed to the mechanic he called me up and says there's nothing wrong with it it starts and runs fine. they took it out on the road real quick and it died right there hahah.

The pump I had was only a few years old, so with me being in highschool at the time, it may have only seem 10,000 miles.
But it was a pump for a 3.8l.
