  • Changing the Headunit Display Lightbulb

I've been following this guide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWzXaPL8MgQ

And My brown piece that holds the lightbulb won't come out. I think it might be soldered on but IDK. He never mentions that.
ANyway I try turning it from the middle with a flathead and crack the brown piece. If i try turning it by gripping the outside with pliers it crushes it or strips it. wat to do.

nevermind I was able to bend the tabs upwards with a screwdriver and get it out. Hopefully the replacement includes a new brown piece because its a little damaged. I'll find out if GM part #16208443 is for the lightbulb and the base or only the bulb tomorrow when I look at the dealer.

I was suprised the part actually did include the housing.. awesome. Easy Fix if you don't have to deal with old solder. So far It's been fine without having to resolder the metal tabs.

Superbrightleds.com is the place to go! I switched to blue gauge lights on my 96 clusteer when I did my 4th gen swap and it looks sweet. I also have blue some to do it looks real nice!

Its really easy to navigate there site normally just type in your car model and it brings up a list of the areas that you could use LEDs so you just pick what style of bulb and done. It's awesome!!
