Is this a common problem? Turn signal dead.

The driver side drl just randomly went dead on me. It started out by not coming on with the fogs, then without the headlights, then the signal stopped working, now it's just out completely. On the dash, the left turn icon stays steady lit when I flip the switch left.

That happened to my car one time when the back brake light was cocked the wrong way. There are a few different reasons why that could happen.

The socket is completely fried but works. This probably was a bad fix but I drilled a whole in the lens where the water sits and just replaced the bulb, it works until I can just buy a new lamp and socket.

I tried to buy a new socket from a few different parts stores, for some reason they can't look up the exact socket? But they all had the GM 89-1996 socket.

I have had to replace both sides. In my case, the DRL housing developed cracks on the top and water falls right on top of the housing from the headlight gaps. I just put some silicone on top of the housing and replaced the sockets and haven't had a problem since. Also, packing the socket with dielectric grease will help if water gets in there.

That link is for a replacement socket. It's not recognized at any part stores as being for our cars, but I have used them twice and can assure you that they fit.
