  • knock sensor causing running rich issues???

ses lights telling me knock sensor issue which i know i may have a pinched wire or bad sensors. will this pulling my timing cause the engine to run rich? i have no cats but never smelled this rich before but with the bigger cam im wondering what the cause is. car seems to be running fine. had an interaction with a "stock" 2002 m6 ta over the weekend and now im questioning some things.

knock retard will cause the car to pull timing and it will def be down on power.

As far as smelling rich Could be an o2 senser on its way out but not dead yet it happends to me all the time sometimes you have to hook up a scanner up to it and check the numbers to see if there off . Not sure about the nock senser it will pull timing and it could possibly cause it to dump fuel that seams to be the built in safety dump fuel and pull timing .

Knock senor will pull quite a bit of timing causing the car to feel very down on power.

when i had tj tune my car, one of my o2's were bad. he just tuned it in "open loop" and he said i could take the 02's out and cap the exhaust. maybe have him do that?

well yesterday dustin showed up with some new knock sensors and harness along with some new crossover vent tube gaskets and fuel purge solenoid. took us about half an hour to get it all back together. deleted the codes and fired it up. let the car warm up and we took it for a spin. lets just say there are a few new patches of rubber around town, cars running great and the ses light never came back on. Thanks again Dustin. I owe you big time

also got my new cutout on ( still need to have the other welded in) and my strut tower brace is finally installed too. it was a good day. now to get tj at bakers to fit me in quick to adjust shift points, lower my line pressure, and recalibrate my speedo for the 3.73s. tires go on friday!

Lower yur line pressure? Why would you want lower line pressure in the trans?

I have to agree with this.

I have to agree with this. I have felt this decrease in power which was directly associated with the engine knock sensor.
