  • Fuel Pump is toast

Well I guess I have been pushing my luck for a while now by just getting by on a little bit of gas in my tank and staying around 1/4 most of the time. Well today after school I walked out to the parking lot and my car wouldn't start. Had juice but no fuel. after getting it towed home we have come to find out that my fuel pump is dead. The tow truck driver has a 4th gen and had the same thing happen to him as well.

I'm not worried about getting a new one installed cause I know what I'm getting into but what the hell is up with Gm parts direct charging over $600 for one of these stupid things!!!!!

I hope you didnt order the parts yet because its your lucky day as I just happen to have one for you! Its a complete sending unit with 53K miles that I bought by mistake from a member here thinking it would work in my firebird. $85 picked up at my house near romeo, which is exactly what i paid for it.

I don't think I ordered anything (as in my dad probably didn't yet) a day after my birthday he was like well here's your present, guess it's better than the pair of wiper blades he got me as the big one. I'll tell him in the morning about it, thank you

will this fit in a v6? how can I verify it's the correct one, do you have a part number I can compare it too?

Are you paying to have it installed or are you doing itself? I am more than happy to take pictures for you so you can verify but I am pretty sure 99-02 used the same pump. this is from an 02. Maybe you could call a parts place and have them do a cross reference for you.

I'll be doing the job with my dad per usual. we do it all at home, I'm lucky to have a dad who doesn't take his cars in for repairs let alone an oil change.

here is the GMPD link http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/catalog/frameset.cfm the v8 unit is cheaper for some reason so maybe it's not the same?

the v8 unit is NOT the same!

if you are doing it yourself, you can always give it a try and if it doesnt work bring it back and ill refund you.

So youre saying the one I have doesn't fit? Honest man youre not going to get a better deal than $85 on a low mile OEM complete sending unit... I just went through all that with my firebird.

Pick up the one from Joel and slap in a trap door, the car is back up and running in 2 hours. Simple. The pump Joel has will work in your car.

Exactly, then you aren't messing around with glue on the reservoir bucket and worrying about it falling apart on you.
