Temp sending unit on head,set SES?

hey i have a 97 LT1 camaro, will a broken temp senser/sending unit (the one on the head) set the SES light?

if its the unit for the pcm it will make the car run rich

cuz i know that there is one on the water pump and one on the cylinder head and i just noticed the SES today and i was looking around the engine bay and noticed the one on the head was broken off. the car is running pretty rich, my buddy did some logging with his HPtuners. im just hoping thats what the SES is from since i just got the car sunday.

no. it wont bother anything, the one in the head is only for the gauge. The sensor the PCM uses is in the water pump

ok so i am getting a random misfire code. heres what i think happened. i was teaching my GF how to drive it last night cuz she has never ever drove a stick, well she stalled it a couple times and almost stalled it a few more times where its like chugging, i noticed the SES light a while after that. could this be possible reason why im getting the random misfire code?, i will have my buddy come clear the code and see if it comes back when he gets out of work. plugs and wires are not very old, has MSD coil and a GM Opti.

random misfire, dont remember the number, p0300 i dont remember, BUT affter driving the car for a while today the SES light went off, im guessing it went thru enough driving cycles to clear the code itself. so i guess until next time lol, thanks for your responses.
