  • Intermittent high idle

Every couple days my camaro idles at 1500 rpm in park when warm and 1200 in gear. Sometimes if I do a wot throttle snap it idles back down to normal. It doesn't work all the time.

Checked my tps voltage. 0.463 volts closed, and 4.63 at wot. I slowly checked the voltage from closed throttle to open and I get a smooth increase in voltage.

    Your IAC could be sticking

I thought about that. But would it be that intermittent?

I replaced the IAC, It didn't really help. The engine didn't idle high all the time driving but at 3 lights it was idling at 1200 rpms... Now I have no idea whats causing this.

vacuum leak or tps, did you check the tps coming down from open throttle to close and find any glitch spots?

I checked the tps both ways. Its good. Wouldn't a vacuum leak make it idle high all the time though?

I had a high idle problem and my comp. wouldn't relearn a new tps base position, so I slotted the holes in the tps and turned it to read 0%

Try cleaning the throttle blades, they could be sticking or adjusted improperly. Eric L
