  • LT1 car; no spark

Hey everyone! I recently picked up this 1994 Formula. I was really looking for an LS car, but this one was a great deal.

Anyways, the car won't start. It's got a new fuel pump, and its getting 41psi to the rail. So this leaves me to beleive there's no spark. I had the ingition module tested and it came back good. The car has been through 3 optisparks. The previous owner said the last one was an updated A/C delco replacement. Spark plugs and wires are pretty new as well. I was thinking if it was the opti; it would as least run just not well... what do u think?

Now I dont know alot about GM cars.. is there anything in the ignition that could cause this?

    Thank you for any input!

There are several other things besides the opti that can cause start run failures. 1. bad ground wires, there are 4 by the ignition module. and 1 from that area to frame below break unit. 2. There are several fuses for the injectors. 3. Any moisture will kill the opti.
I would pull a spark plug and see if its wet with gas. Then you know its no spark. Do you know any history of car when it died. IE; was running and quit, did some work and never started after that.
There is a procedure to trouble shoot the opti on www.shbox.com that is pretty good.

Well, it was hard to start; then one day wouldn't start. Checked for fuel pressure and found the pump to be dead. Got a new pump; now it's got pressure. I will check the plugs and see. Thanks for the insight. Oh yeah, the car does turn over; just doesn't run.
