  • Major LT1 Wiring Malfunction, Need your guys's opinions

I have been trying to find the wiring problem in my 94z, and it hasn't gotten me anywhere. I pulled the dash and have replaced all fuses/relays in both blocks. The shift light is on w the battery shut of switch open and key off, and the windows go down when pushed up w out the key in the ignition.
I have also tried switching the bcm too.
I have a 95 camaro harness engine and body, the harness in my car doesn't look bad though.

At this point I don't know what to do with this car, does any body know of anyone who's good with lt1 wiring, I'm willing to pay for help. I really don't want to part this car out.

Any direction or help would be appreciated, Thanks for your time guys

Have you tried switching the PCM?

haven't tried swapping the pcm i don't have a spare, i have the cluster plugged in and it throws the check engine light and some other lights. I pulled the 4 connectors on the computer and none of those wires look burnt neither does anything under the dash

I've got a spare PCM that I might be able to bring over at some point - just don't know when since my weekends are usually pretty busy.

Here's the window module wiring diagram. I couldn't find anything specifically for the shift light - is it the same light as the skip shift light? The skip shift light comes on directly from the PCM - that's why I said something with the PCM might not be right.

You also said the stuff with the windows happens without the key in the ignition, does it act correctly when the key is in the ignition but still off?

I understand B, You're the busiest guy on this forum. The shift light is diff the skip shift its a autometer one w diff rpm pills. The Windows move with out the key in the ignition, as long as the battery shut off is pulled out

So your aftermarket autometer shift light is lit while the car is off? Shouldn't it only be lit if it detects a certain RPM range?

Sounds like a stuck door switch to me. Does it stay on for more than 10-15 minutes after you shut the car off? Do the windows work after the same amount of time has passed? It could be a number of things, but the window problem seems to be either a shorted wire, bad ignition switch, or a bad door switch. Have you done anything recently to the electrical in the car?

All this was innitialy caused by the wires on the starter touching. The car does not run, but the shift light and windows act up as long as the battery shut off is pulled out. So they're getting hot somehow, I don't see fried wires tho

Like earlier stated, sounds like you have a shorted door light switch. That shutoff should shut EVERYTHING off. Theres a short. Start at the starter harness, and work your way back. But check that door switch. Pull the kick panel and check it out. Good luck, Eric L

How's the battery shut off wired in? Double check the wiring there, you might have a hot wire somewhere you shouldn't. Doesn't sound so much like a ground, that wouldn't cause a wire that should be dead to be getting juice somehow. . . Sounds like a short in the body harness to me.

Did you relocate your battery to the rear?

Battery is in the rear, that goes to a power distribution block that goes to msd, alt, how can u tell if the door switch is bad, the battery shutoff acts normally and kills everything

The battery shut off is not working if its off and windows still work. the body control module allows the windows to operate untill you open door. what happens when you turn on the battery and try and start the car.

When the battery shut off is off nothing happens, only when you turn it on the windows, and shift light are hot. When you turn the key fuel pump doesn't come on, but I can hear something tick when I try to turn it over
