    Actually, the correct procedure would be to crimp them and solder them....thats what the factory does. I would recrimp new pins on and run it through the connector though.

      soldering wires does not add resistance. a crimp connection can add resistance. Only a cold solder joint adds resistance, but it a bad solder job.

        when we were doing harness tests for delphi they wouldnt solder anything. the solder will make it prone to vibration issues way way down the road. I dont think i have ever seen a crimp joint soldered from the factory.

          ive never seen a harness soldered either. IM gonna go through it tomorrow and just cut those wires outta the connector and just direct wire um to the other side. Maybe do it with all the wires. Just completely bypass that plastic pin connector all together.

            Many 3rd gens had factory crimped/soldered connections. My 85 ECM harness had several as well as a few others I worked on.. They probably stopped doing it due to costs, but it's a superior connection.
