      so any up date?
Question? Since this is an intermitant problem, have you noted if the volt gauge is normal when the car runs good?

Volt gauge is not normal. Car runs fine when its on the halfway mark. But sometimes I will start the car up and it will be almost to the 18 mark and run like crap. The volts flutter around too when it does that.

My buddy called me a little bit ago and said he drove the car for about a half hour....said it ran fine the whole time. I told him to drive it as much as he could today so we can hopefully figure it out. Im soooo confused with this thing!

I like to read these threads for future reference just in case my car does something similar down the road. Hope you figure out what the problem is.

Well from what you have said and from experience, I am still thinking bad, loose grd somewhere. bad Alt. (built in reg), or bad battery. If its a grd. there are several that come to mind.
              1. Grd over by the battery on fender well.
              2. 4 wire by the spark coil on front of head on dr's side.
              3. one on drivers side connected to frame.
4 one connected to top of radiator support.
              5. large grd connection on motor mount stud passenger side.

If you buddies don't get it to act up you could check and make sure these are tight. Also probably would not hurt to disconnect plus terminal group by battery and clean them. Always remove grd first from battery then plus. Reinstall plus 1st then grd. electron little buddies flow to grd so this prevents arc or spike to electronic modules.

Thanks so much! I am going to give them a call here shortly during lunch and see if they have figured anything out. Im hoping we find something. If not, then tonight when i get it home I will check all the grounds and make sure everything is good and tight. =D

a bad ground will do some crazy things so i completely agree with larry. last week one of buddies car had the ground go bad on his tailights. The parking lamps were wired into the same ground so next thing you know everytime he hit the brakes the parking and interior lights would go on because that was the only place for the current to go. it sounds like the same sort of thing is happening to you so Im thinking it is something specific that is causing it - perhaps something that your friends or you just arent using and you dont realize it when you are. Try every little power accessory in the car you can think of.

Also make sure you check the accessory hub near the battery. that thing came loose on me once and it did some crazy stuff.

Have you taken it to have the battery and alternator checked too? It's free and that at least would rule it out.

I have seen the Braided Gnd that goes from the motor to the drivers side frame caroded so bad that it had broke.

In fact it was a members car on here.

Hey guys! So....friday midday, I picked up the car from my buddies shop. It was running great! Took the car home and took my truck to go pick up the optispark. Came home, drove the car around.....its running just perfect. It has all weekend. So Im gonna wait for a bit till the next time it acts up, and then change it.
