  • best battery?

My battery had a sudden death on me last weekend, went from working perfectly fine to not holding a charge for 5 minutes in a couple days. Its an AC Delco and its treated me great, was in the car when i bought it in 2003 so who knows how old it is.

My dad wants me to get another AC Delco but only the dealers carry them and very few have any in stock. Should i go this route or is there a better option. I need something that can handle the load i throw at it - mainly running the fan and water pump without the engine running after a pass at the track.

basically delco or red top? I havent had good luck with many of the other brands.

I havent had a problem with Interstates. Even the Wal Mart batteries I've had very good luck with (not the cheap ones, the more expensive ones)

My AcDelco took a crap on me over the winter (99 SS) But my elCheapo Sams Club batttery in my 69 fired right up. Both about the same age. There is parts stores that sell AcDelco batteries, Least on this side of the state.
Optima has a $25 rebate going on, I just havnt uploaded the info yet. Still alot of $$ for a battery.

My Red Top is still kicking, but I have to constantly charge it every few weeks as it gradually loses it's charge even though I drive it every day. This happened in less than a year and it had only lost it's charge a couple of times over the winter when it wasn't in use. I'd be hard pressed to buy one again, especially for how expensive it was.

well my dad just called and said he found a delco at the dealer for $70 so i think im going to go that route. Ive had no problems with my delco for 6 years and its probably older than that.

I recently bought a duralast yellow top battery, I bought it for a few reasons, it was like $100 or less after I gave them my old battery I think, It has both side and top post becuse I have a sound system wired in my car. I have always had good luck with these batteries as I have one in my truck too. Cheaper and realiable and powerful!

make sure you don't get the 550. v8's should have 680

Really.....I've had one in my car for 5 years now and it's still going strong.....don't even keep a tender or trickle charger on it in the winter.
