  • Key VAT code

I want to get another set of keys made for my Z28. So how do I find the correct VAT code, for the ignition key. Which I assume is a resistor valve. Is that a code that's on the placard on the glove box door.

    Thanks, Rick

Use a multimeter to measure the resistance going across the chip.

THANKS, That's easy enough. I was looking through Ecklers catalog and they list blank keys with different VAT codes. How do I determine which one is right for my car?

you can go to shbox.com and there is a proceedure to measure and bypass vats. then you can buy a regular car key.

Dealer can look it up, also, if you take it to the home depot(by us atleast) they can measure it and make your new key to match the original.
