Ok so it didn't actually catch on fire but it did burn wires!
So the ol' lady, kid and I were on our way back from kalamazoo when all of a sudden my dash lights went out8-O then my courtesy lights went out
so I pull into the gas station in schoolcraft to see if I could find a blown fuse. Finding none of them blown I just took off for home with lighter in hand.
So saturday my mechanic and I are looking at fuses and find nothing again so we pulled the kick panel out and looked under there for a while finding nothing.
Then we happened to look into the hole for the trunk release wires and saw a whole lot of burned wiring
Yeah needless to say I was a little mad. So we started taking the dash apart so we could repair the wiring and it got worse as we pulled things apart...apparently the guy had tapped into the wiring harness by the fuses for power to the radar detector and floor lights
Then when we pulled out the console he had all the wires wrapped around the tabs and electrical tapped then they were run up by the dash were they all merged into the power wire he ran from the harness we found no connectors anywere!!! I am truly blessed that the car didn't burn to the ground. So I am happy to say that me and my mechanic now have to rewire the car but it will be a piece of mind knowing that it will be wired the right way the second time!!!
Below are some pics...sorry that you really can't see to much. I am documenting everything that we do...Also a little sad and pissed because i am not going to be able to come to the spring meet and greet but hopefully I will have the car straight by the summer meet and greet.
