Larry I think you correct on this one, I drove it most of the day today, and just a few minutes ago on my way home car was nice an toasty, it started doing it again. I think it must be the sensor quitting when it gets hot.
Theres no way it can be the wires right? Works PERFECT when cold but when it gets really hot it starts acting funny?
How are these attached to the block like if I got it in the air how long would it take to change? How much is the sensor?1999 Camaro - 6 liters of fury.....

That sensor isn't hard to get at Spencer, just disconnect he battery and drop the starter and its right there. It connects to the block with a 10mm bolt and then just pulls right out.Doing less with more

Fixt!
Pulled the starter and tried getting the sensor out forever, its "easy" for you guys with the aluminum blocks but mine had a little bit of paint and rust holding it in. After prying it out, I did a little wiring.
When I bought my harness, it was perfect except the crank position sensor plug was pulled. The wires actually pulled out of the pins, and the pins stayed in the connector. I removed the pins re soldered them and put them back in. I was always thinking this may have been the issue to begin with so I cut the wires and lobbed the connector and about 5 in of wire off of my truck harness that came with my motor (connector was perfect on this), and soldered the wires on that fearing the connector and pins were bad on the other one. Put it all back together and went for a drive.
Definitely a SOTP difference. It didnt stumble around 3k and more (it would actually cut out and want to die unless you got out of it) and it runs SO much stronger all around. It even chirped second and I wasnt even riding it hard!
SUPER happy this seems to have fixt the issue.
Just thought id post it up!1999 Camaro - 6 liters of fury.....

Getting an alignment done right now, dropped it off on my way to class, picking it up on my way back from ohio (going with Ed(ace2717) to trade his buick for the 85 camaro.) throwing the STB on, putting on jack stands, replacing the rear seal in the trans, and thats as good as it gets before friday, minius a mini detail at work on my lunch friday.1999 Camaro - 6 liters of fury.....

not a thirdgens finest qualities... From what I have found about owning a thirdgen is you have to know how to work on it. Little things seem to come up that need attention, right now my 1992 Camaro is my only car as well and I would not worry about driving it to Cali, but I gotta keep in mind it is a thirdgen camaro... Best of luck I would love to see another thirdgen and if the body is solid and it runs strong I think its a good trade...Originally posted by sman View PostHe needs something solid, its going to be his only car, so this thing needs to be rock solid reliable, thats the only part that scares me.sigpic

Not saying that it wont always run or anything near that statement, just saying it is a thirdgen camaro these cars where not built to be a DD (all year round). Even though I did drive mine at the end of the winter and will drive it everyday in the summer just have to be prepared to wrench on them a lil and do the basic maintenance that these desire!Originally posted by MP81 View PostMy Camaro never let me down - it always ran.
