I have one in my IROC. Not sure what you mean by "setting it up" though...hooks up just like stock on the side terminals. I just keep the top posts covered with the little plastic caps that come with the battery.

I want to get a new one - got a battery cover and it doesn't accommodate for top posts. The new red tops look like they don't have top posts, just side posts.

I would always want top posts if available. Side posts are the biggest pain in the ass ever to try and clamp on to.

I dont understand what you mean by "switching it over", and cutting and splicing what? I've got a redtop and I just dropped it in and hooked it up the same as the previous battery, just like replacing any other car battery.

Okay, I understand what you mean now. Imo, get the battery with the side posts and the top posts. The side posts are very good to have your battery hooked to, they don't corrode like the top posts do. Then, if you ever need a jump or to jump someone else, the top mounts are there for easy clamping.

I have the yellow top battery but kinda the same thing. I also have the one with the top and side connections. I ran all the car stuff of the top posts because its easier to remove and put back on. I ran my audio equipment of the side post so I didnt have to tap in or mess with any of the cars wiring. If you still want pictures I could snap a few for you tomorrow if your interested...
