Okay its for my '95 Firebird Formula. Went out to the garage today to fire her up. She fired up kind of idled a little funny. Shut it off for a few. Went to start it back up and now its not getting any spark. Had a tester on it no spark. Its got fuel. No spark. Any suggestions where to go from here? Its got a newer MSD Optispark Distributor. I was told it could be the fact the speed sensor is bad because its been throwing a code for it for a little while.

Can you argue that it's "revolutionary"? Perhaps. Just because it's "new" and "different" doesn't mean it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

do you have spark coming from coil in front of drivers side head? or no spark going to plugs. Coil would wb cheaper than opti.sigpic

the spark coil is located up front on drivers side head right at the top. you should see spark coil wire that goes down to opti park asm. I sort of circled it in green.Attached FilesLast edited by 98blackbeauty; April 13th, 2009, 09:00 AM.sigpic

Alright so check spark there. If I have no spark there replace that coil? Any other places to look gonna go look at it in an hour. If you have no spark at the coil then it could be you ICM (Ignition Control Mod.).
It's the fined piece that is behind the coil that has a plug on it.
Keep in mind that if you buy it it's a non returnable part.
But if you have no spark at the coil then it's probably you gremlin.
I have an Opti test you can run also.

Alright. Ill probably get to it tonight or tomorrow to test it out. So to get the the coil I need to take the air filter and everything off of it to get to that correct? Ill probably pull it off later so I can get to that coil and see if Im getting spark.
So in the long run if I am not getting spark, replace the coil. Then go from there. Ill update on it as soon as I test it out.
Also Where is the ICM located at exactly? Its right by the coil isnt it?

PS next time it may help if you post a pic of the Formula because our cars are practically identical and it will make it easier for my viewing, its like looking at my own car, except its a picture of a replica!!! hahaOriginally posted by Plum Nuts View Postthe spark coil is located up front on drivers side head right at the top. you should see spark coil wire that goes down to opti park asm. The ICM is mounted right behind the coil.
If you remove the coil the ICM is hooked on the same bracket.
And yes, the coil is under/behind the CAI hooked right to the drivers head and you will need a 9/16 deep-well socket.

yeah, Brians is a little different, but the air input was already off so it was easier to get a pic. here are your choices as I see it:
1. no spark at coil.
a. input lines to coil not sending signal.
b. if you have input voltages then coil bad.
2. Spark out of coil but not goint to plugs.
a. Opti spark unit bad.
Go to shbox.com there are wiring diagrams for 95 fbody.sigpic
