  • Spark Plug Recommendation

So I need to give my car a tune up. I am getting an occasional misfire and a 02 heater sensor code.

What do you recommend for spark plugs?
What do you recommend for spark plug wires?

The guy at the dealership suggested Bosch and OEM wires, but I have heard good things about other brands and I wanted to know what would be the best.

    Thanks!

Sorry Ben but I've heard more bad things about Bosch than good.

Yeah I think I blew out an 02 sensor last year but those should be an easy fix.

Red - I am glad you mentioned that. I was about to go buy those too!

What would be a better choice for plugs? NGK?

        Wires? Would Taylor be better?

I would stick as close to OEM as possible; the vehicle was engineered around it.

I have Denso Iridium Plugs and Magnacor Wires. Stock was Denso Platinum and I just stepped it up a bit going to Iridiums. As for the plug wires, stock wires didn't work with the headers; the Magnacors have a nice 45º angle plug boot. (BTW, Magnacor is a Michigan based company out of Farmington Hills. Go Michigan! http://www.magnecor.com/)

              I like my NGK's
              Better plug than stock.

For wires, Magnecor, Taylor, MSD, Acell they all have good stuff.

AC Delco or NGK for plugs...no reason to get fancy with plugs...the super fancy triple-fire-twin prong-unobtainium plugs made by (insert brand here) do little other than take more money out of your pocket.

I went with Taylor for wires but there's many quality options there.

A misfire could also be one of your coil packs, but start with wires first...

Okay so I bought a set of NGK Platium dipped TR55 GP 3403 plugs. I was going to buy a set of Accel wires but Autozone nor Advance stock Red 90 degree wires which I will need for my header install.

Here is another question, how important it is to have angled plug wires with the header install?

On my vehicle some of the stock wires would have touched/rested on the headers. Too hot for wires; meltdown...
