  • My Review of S&B Tuning

So I installed my headers and Y pipe last week and Im done with my Modding my car for a while so I drove up to port huron to get a tune from Steve at s&b tuning on friday He bumped the timing from around 24*advance to 30.5* and dialed in the A/F ratio and after a few days of driving Ive noticed my car has a smothing Idle and a nice SOTP gain it running very strong and Im very happy with the tune

I'm curious as to why he raised your limiter so high on a stock cam and valvetrain? Its gonna start floating the valves at 6200 or so why go any higher for no power gain?

I agree. Stock cam peaks around 5500-5600 so why would you even carry the shifts much past 6,000 anyways?

Plus like mentioned stock valve springs will start to float not much after 6,200

Sorry to bring it up again I was also worried about the Rev limit he assured me it would be ok I really have never seen any dyno graph where an ls1 has not lost power up there after around a month of reading theres a few issues with my tune I would like to take care of and Ill be calling him tommarow about

#1 Rev limit I would like to lower it to 6200

#2 Timing at 30.5* advance the car wasnt on the dyno so I dont know if such high timing is even making more power I would Like it to be moved to 28-29* advanced to be alittle safer it wasnt showing any KR though so Im not worried about it for right now

#3 The car was tuned with narrow band 02 sensors using a PE table Ive heard mixed results on how accurate this is way wasnt it tuned with wideband he only had the car for an hour can you even put a Good tune on a car in and hour? what do you guys think?

It seemed to pick some power up from the tune I will say that but as for the rest on not to sure on Im hoping he can meet me at the meet and greet to fix those few things.

He tuned with a narrow band? Wow, all a narrowband is good for is a disco light. It doesn't tell you sh!t.

No problem with timing at at 30.5 degrees...should be fine...
