  • lt1 difference????

I have an iron headed lt1 out of a impala that i am gonna put in my car for temporary use...the coolant temp sensor on the head is in a different spot...do i need to switch them...on the head without the sensor there is a plug where the sensor goes into....the really only main concern is the wires getting burned by the header and the plug from the wiring harness reaching the sensor.

are you saying the temp sensor is on the passenger side instead of the driver side?

in that case i think swapping them would be the easiest, yes. do it before you put the engine in because that will be the easiest time to do so.

as far as the heat issue... just do your best with zip-ties. thats where the sensor is from the factory so it cant be too bad of a spot

actually badInfluence just did this swap not much more than a couple weeks ago. do some searching on his posts, he posted the complete list of everything he had to change... there was quite a bit.

                  I got your PM.

Thought I'd post it up here so others can see.

You will need to switch the sensor to the pass. side, and plug the drivers side. Also, the oil pres sensor will be a very tight fit, you'll need to grind the engine bracket down a bit so it will clip on correct

You'll need all F-body front accessorys except ign coil/optispark are ok.

Water Pump- you CAN use the b-body one as long as you put a T-split in the rad-heater coolant hose line. or you can swap over the f-body water pump.

you'll need to use fbody engine brackets to line up to fbody mounts.

You will need a B-Body starter.

also, you will need a b-body oil filter.
