  • considering buyin HP Tuners...questions about it

    Hello,
My post O2 simulator died and I want to get rid of the service engine soon light that is lit up on my dash. I was conisdering sending out my PCM to get it deleted and retuned.

Is HP Tuners also a scanner?
How does the credit thing work on the system? If I bought it I would like to tune out the post O2 fuction and delete an EGR code that is in my Girfriends 97 Saturn. It looks like the unit cost between $500-650 with 8 free credit and each additional credit is $50.00. How many credits does each vehicle use?

I don't plan on doing any major modification to my camaro but I was thinking this might be nice to scan vehicle when needed and make adjustments on future cars.

I was reading the FAQ section at hp tuners.com but I wanted to get some actual feedback on this sytem.

yes hptuners is also a scanner.

each vehicle uses 2 credits if you go for vin specific. Or they have year packages that are like 4-6 credits

It is definitely handy to have for any of your future cars

Its the best system for scanning and calibration as you can find for your stock PCM.

Does it use any credits to simpley scan a vehicle?

Having the HP Tuners is just as good if not better than sending out your PCM for a tune correct?

I like the fact that with HP Tuners you can save the stock settings from the PCM and you can always go back to those settings if need be.

            No credits to scan

Yes it's WAY better than a mail order tune.

I was wondering the same thing, would this thing work if i put a cam into my car, or will that take more extensive tuning, i want one, but if it can't help with tunning for a cam or other major upgrades then i would rather save for a dyno tune. I'm trying to get everything straight before I go out and drop some money

this will do everything! Often tuners themselves use this particular software but the catch is they know it inside and out.
