Autozone will scan it and tell you what the code is. They won't clear it for you though. Some liability reason. I picked up a scanner for like $30 from a guy that was selling them on LS1tech a year or so ago. You can pick up one similar to what I got on Ebay for about $35 or so. It's just a basic code reader, no diagnostics or anything fancy.

yea they will scan it for you..or I think you could even borrow one but you have to leave some money down on it
Arent 1995's OBDI also?

The little tiny one is a basic one if your looking to just scan codes it will work
I have the Actron CP- 9150

Didnt cost as much as the listing. but its pretty nice, and of course you can do alot more than just a basic scannerLast edited by BP_Z28; January 26th, 2008, 07:50 PM.

the problem with getting it scanned by a parts store is theyre scanner are VERY basic and they are not trained in interpreting them or additional diagnosis - a code in most cases points you to a general system and then addiyional diagnosis ensues to determine the ACTUAL cause of that condition - cant ell you how many people i have come in that have spent $100's of dollars on o2's only to have to have to come into a dealer and replace a vent valve

yup..^^^^
I even had to talk to a manager @ autozone.when I didnt have my reader. kept telling me that I had OBDII when I kept telling them I had a OBD I but with a OBDII connector and you have to put in the information (car, engine etc) manually....
They need to train them a lil bit more!

Its sad... They aren't trained to do anything there it seems... I had my starter in my truck tested and they fried it... It literally started smoking... Then i went to Advanced autos when i had to test the starter in the camaro and they didn't even know how to hook it up and my dad did it for them...1989 Chevrolet Camaro- Currently in pieces...

Agreed, but in most cases a quick scan will get you in the right direction atleast.- Brian Meissen
