Jeremy and I are in need of a couple of experienced people to come out to Adrian within the next month or so and help us change our spark plugs. . . I've heard that they are a pain on the LT1, and I'd rather have someone who's done it before present to show us the tricks to doing it right. . . I've been told that if it's my first time, I should plan to spend a weekend changing plugs and wires, and we want to change the plugs and wires on two vehicles, neither of which can be out of commission for more than an afternoon. . . If anyone is willing to make the trip out, I'll make sure there's a place to crash for a night, and we can get some beer for the effort. . . Anyone who's interested, either post up here, PM me, or give me a call, my cell phone # is in my sig. Thanks!

Exactly my point. . . I've heard this from other people before, and I would much rather have some help and do it right than get frustrated and not get it done before work/class/whatever. Anybody wanna help?Originally posted by JoeliusZ28 View PostHA! not to be discouraging but...

Wait & do it when you have a whole day just in case. What headers are on the cars? With my SLP 1 3/4 mid tube, 1,2,3,4,7 & 8 are no prob. 5 & 6 used to be a MOFO. The tubes go right over the plugs with about 3/8" of clearance between the end of the plug and the tube. I made a socket & can now change my plugs in about 2 hrs. I hacked a spark plug socket with a cut-off wheel and made it as short as possible, including the end the rachet snaps into. You don't need shit for clearance, you just slide it over the plug (sideways) and push it on the hex, then use an open or box end wrench on the end of the socket. Some companies sell these, but mine is even shorter, took about 30 min to make and works awesome.

I think it took me and kolin a few hours to do his. His had headers tho so it was way worse. i don't see a problem with doing em in an evening. If you've done plugs and wires on anything before it shouldn't be too bad. It's talked up to be a lot worse then it really is. just take your time and don't strip them!! make sure the socket is on the plug all the way. triple check it.2000 Trans Am l 1967 Firebird

x2. I knocked them out on a buddies LT1 in about 3 hrs and an hour of that was spent making a special socket just like Swat has. For some reason Craftsman wouldn't warranty itOriginally posted by 19Xtreme99 View PostI think it took me and kolin a few hours to do his. B***h, I have one too! Plus i have a ground down socket from doing bigger rockers on an LT1. No pics but I'll get one when I go home. Took like 45 to get it to fit! Talk about a "thin wall" socket!Originally posted by MiT/A'96 View PostHe still gets a LOT of credit for comming up with a good idea (tool)...
