  • thinking about getting a remote starter/alarm

for my truck before winter hits. Im anal about letting my vehicles warm up a bit in the winter months. So anyway im looking for some recommendations, i want the starter more than the alarm, but i figure i might as well do it right and get an alarm as well. more than anything i want a reliable remote. When i press a button within range it should work. Seems like half the remotes ive used are 50/50.

would like to spend no more than $400 (installed).

    Ravelco anti-theft...400.00 installed
Remote starter....Won't work with the Ravelco.
Rather keep your vehicle or have it warm 3 minutes faster?

im not as worried about my truck getting stolen as i am the things inside of it being stolen, such as the stereo. If vehicle theft was my primary concern, id definitely be getting the ravelco as ive read about it more than once on here.

I got a remote start on the Firebird when I drove the car during the winter. I bought a remote start from Kammi and that one is going on the Taurus I am hoping to have it on by next weekend. I also could not drive another car with out a remote start. I loooove mine!

Do you have keyless entry on the truck already? I put a remote starter on my truck that works off the keyless entry....just presss the lock button 3 times and the truck starts...it was like $65 off ebay but it was kinda a PITA to install...but definatley doable if you have a set of wiring diagrams for the truck.

i do but the factory remote is another reason i want to do this... My unlock button works MAYBE 50% of the time, and my lock button 1/4 at best. its junk, and its not the battery. the second remote seems about the same performance.

I got a remote starter/keyless entry on my T-Bird from Mickey Shorr - it was like $150 installed. Not the best range, but it gets the job done.
