Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

I ripped the top on my 1st convertible years ago by trying to put it down while driving down an on ramp to the freeway - probably 20 mph. Learned my lesson - only put it up/down when going 0 mph! That was not a cheap repair . . .

Is the entire mechanism based on pushing a button or is there manual work needed for the top to come completely down?
Two latches on top of the windshield and hold the toggle switch. All done from the comfort of the front seat. I think you're supposed to run the windows down a little first.

What year and car?
And I was wondering what it could cost. Did you just lose the top, or did it damage the body, too?

It was a '92 Olds Cutlass Supreme, with a vinyl top. I wasn't going that fast, so it didn't do any structural damage to the top mechanism, but the vinyl ripped at the upper right corner of the rear window. It was at least a 10" rip from the corner to one of the metal ribs in the top. I had two options for repair; replace all the vinyl, which I really didn't consider since it was way out of my budget for a 21-year old, or have it sewn. I chose the latter. I think it was about $100 to sew it, they did a good job but you could still see the seam pretty clearly.
Mainly I was just pissed at my own stupidity for not pulling over for 30 sec. to put the top down, and costing myself money thereby.
