According to the specs that i saw, the engine can run entirely without fuel for a 40 mile trip, but after the 40 miles the gasoline engine kicks on, but even with the use of the gasoline engine, it is said that you can travel 650 miles on a tank of gas. So if your commute to work and back is less than 40 miles, then you would never use gasoline, you would just charge your car every night. I think that is freaking awesome, and considering on how some of the hybrid cars now look, i would drive this one in an instant. Oh and it runs on flex fuel like E85 ethanol. i think it's awesome what GM is doing with this car.

I drive over 500 miles a week for work and a couple other things I do, even 650 miles would be about 300 more than I can go now, so it still would be awesome for me.

And as electric cars become more popular you may start seeing parking spots with electric plug-ins at places like work, store, parks, theaters...Ect.

Even if you lived 40 miles from work, if you could plug up while you are at work you would have a fully charged car by the time you got out. Good for another 40 miles.
