Broke a arp bolt in my block

I broke a arp head bolt into my ls1 block by over torquing it. My dumb ass was doing 180 degree turns after the first pass thinking that they were 90 degrees and broke the threaded part into my block. Wanted to know if anyone's done a easy out on there block and had success

I would take it to a machine shop and almost think about having it checked out to make sure there is no damage. Easy out and arp bolt dont go in the same sentence.

where is it broke? can you pull the head and is the bolt sticking out. Arp's dont get any degree's- not torque to yeild

BS. ARPs are just steel. They can be drilled like any other bolt.

yep, arps, should be like 30ft lbs then 75ftlbs. the small ones are like 22-25.
Had a guy do the same thing to an arp crank bolt once. Had to pull engine and take it to a machine shop for that one.

If you pull the head and the bolt is sticking out it will turn out by hand. Even if its not sticking out you may be able to use a pick and rotate it. If its down in the block a reverse drill should walk it out. The bolt didnt break due to cross thread or rust that would bind the threads. You just strectched it so the part left isnt bound and should turn easy

Alright. I plan on buying a good punch and a drill guide and attempt to get it out. If it gets to sketchy than the motors comin out

try a left handed drill bit. sometimes thats all you need.

talk about luck but it came out with just putting a magnet down there and spinning it.

Would have thought that you would have pulled out the threads in the aluminum block before you snapped that ARP bolt

Yea I got extremely lucky. This coulda been really bad all sorts of different ways.

All ARP fasteners have a part number and you can buy them on an as needed basis.
