    Trans AM going on a diet

    Hey everyone. Well as one thing gets finished another project starts. This time its inside. I started the wheight reduction process and will be updating this thread as i go along. Also any input is ofcourse appreciated as this is the first time im doing something like this. I mainly started with the easy stuff since its quick, in the next couple of days i will tackle the heater core and AC crap. After that i should have passed about 200lbs dropped with the front seats still intact, which brings me to my next point if you guys have lightwheight seats and are tired of them. Ive got mine which are in great condition up for trade. Here are some pics of what ive got so far.














    once i get the seats figured out i can continue with removing the heavy carpet and sound muffling material and replace it all with some lightwheight fabric. If you guys are interested in any of this stuff let me know i will let it go for cheap.

      I dont have it anymore. It wasnt in the best of shape either.

        Fun! I will be doing the same thing to my Z28 I just bought. I don't know your intentions but I would consider keeping the heat for defrost purposes if you plan to use the car more then June-August. I have a goal weight of 3,000 lbs

          Bri i will be deleting all that stuff. Its not a dd so i have no use for that goodness. That weight is very atainable. With everything deleted including the very heavy front seats which will probably be my final step.

            mine is pretty gutted as well, how crazy are you planning on going? i'm thinking about hole sawing some of the inside to pull some more out, it seems like there is a lot of extra steel in there. i want to cut my fender insides but taking the number/benders off seems like a PITA.

            i'm running a Kirkey seat and i just throw a pillow in the seat when i'm on the road, take it out when i get to the track. it's no la-z-boy but it's not that bad.

              Haha well im not quite sure how crazy im going to go. Mainly this started since im planning on an 8 point so i wanted to do this while im at it. Which is pretty adicting because the more i go along the more i want to lighten up. But i will make sure to keep it tasteful. Kirkey seats are on my list also.

                just got the housing painted up still waiting on the axles to get here from strange since they sent to the housin in grand rapids instead of san diego but their on the way lol
