  • Durable valve gasket material?

Have to make my own.....the cheap shit I've been using from the local auto parts store isnt cutting it.

Would rather not keep "trialing" different material until I find one. Pulling these covers is a PITA!

Get valve covers that use stock gaskets.
You have a breather / Pcv on it?

Do the valve covers have grooves or are they flat?

I know you had a custom set of Cometic gaskets before. Can't get the material through them?

Possible to run a CNC ball nose bit around the flat and fill it with RTV?

Good call, but dont want to rely on a bad bead situation....

Yes, Mast....only cover that have fit are C5R. Heads are a little funky... Other problem is there's only a hand full of these heads out there so not too much out there. Just need a good material to cut these damn things....

What did Cometic have to say about it?

As for a bad bead situation, if the guys you're paying are any good, you should only have to do it once

Just messing, I know how it goes! I'll rack my brain tonight for ideas.

                    Also, I don't know what's worse.

A bad bead that can be fixed, or having to cut a new valve cover gasket out of unubtanium.

They're not advertised. Not Inline...not Mozez...kind of C5R-ish. Have never got a straight answer. Calling Mast next week...

You can buy sheets from Mr. Gasket, Fel Pro, Accel, etc, but I don't know much about the requirements you need. Cork, rubber, nitrile, metal core?

lmao...this is painful. Thats what I'm trying to find out The Fel Pro garbage is what I've been using from Autozone....has to be more "industrial grade" out there

My bad. Hate to beat a dead horse here, but it's about all I can do until we know what Cometic's "experimental" material was.

On second thought, my uncle has an industrial laser etching machine to engrave tools and dies. Not sure if it will cut rubber. BUT he does have a waterjet if need be. If you have dimensions from your last gaskets I might be able to get them cut out of a sheet of nitrile (if available) .
