    Hey All,

    I am getting back into my Camaro, the first thing to work on will be my engine, was wondering if anyone could run my specs for me and tell me what kind of numbers I might be pushing. and if anyone has any input on my build. my budget isn't huge.. but am willing to spend a little extra if its worth the money. the car won't be a daily driver.. more of a weekend cruiser, probably will never actually take it to a drag strip.. but who knows.. I know the cam isn't the best.. would like to keep it if possible.

    -Stock LO5 short block out of an 88 Chevy Suburban
    --.040 over flat top hypereutectic pistons
    --.010 under crank journals
    --moly rings
    --bimetal bearings
    --high volume oil pump
    --All ARP fasteners
    --stock rods/crank

    (Current Heads / Intake)
    -Stock LO5 (193) swirl port TBI heads, rebuilt and milled slightly, with Crane Valve Springs.
    -Summit Racing Street & Strip Stage 1 Intake Manifolds SUM-226016
    --Operating Range (Idle-6,000 RPM)

    (Soon to be Heads most likely)
    -ProMaxx (Patriot) Performance 2151 Vortec Heads

    Stock deck height? Pistons TDC above or below deck? What cc dish/dome are the pistons? What's the final cc on the heads? I have no way of knowing a compression ratio.


    Those 193 heads will choke the engine above 4000 rpm and really drop off after 4500 or so. Probably 275-300hp.

    Vortec heads might get you above 350 if you're willing to wring it out.

    I have a good program, just need very detailed info. Need flow charts for the heads as well

      Not sure exact specs on the stuff you are asking, not sure deck info on it. (I didn't build the engine)

      heads are 64cc combustion chamber. and I couldn't find flow numbers on it :\

        Just like above.
        Need rod length.
        Piston compression heigth.
        Piston quench flat top or dome cc's
        Cc's of cylinder head cumbustion chanmber
        Cylinder head flow chart
        All cam specs
        Intake type. Single plane or dual or fuel injected
        Cylinder bore.
        Deck height
        Head part #
        Carb size

        Any program out there will only give you very vague ball park. Theres nothing in them that compensates for pully under drive you may have. Or rocker ratio. Header desighn. Ect. Just like a engine dyno that generally messure hp with no accessories and open header. Although they can be added, but generally are not.

          The program I have can do a few of those things, but yes, just a ballpark figure. Think my engine was 443hp and 432tq with the software, I'd put it at 425hp and about the same torque. 325-350 range for both at the rear tires, plenty for me
