Well , some progress today! Pulled the front of the motor apart. Removed the opti. Took it up to Advanced and tore it down, the guy there knows his opti's. But it didnt take a genius to see where the problem was here.

Remember kids ALWAYS use locktite on the rotor screws!!!
    heres the cap

The white dust is from the rotor, it was being ground away. I didnt think the opti should rattle when shaken.
So even though it is probably repairable I have decided to replace it with a Delphi unit. Along with the water pump, the weep hole is discolored so I am not taking any chances. Since Im in this far, Im going to do a new set of lifters, then well see where we go from here.

Oh yeah, the inside of the opti behind the cover was a bunch of oil, but I didnt get any pics of it, didnt want it on my phone from my hands. The optical sensor looked ok but I am not taking any chances.

Well scrap the Delphi unit idea. I had a good price but suddenly they are unavailable. So I am going to try a Rich Porter, $130.00 bux ....meh, what the shiz.... life time warranty. I had the Delphi down to $350.00 showed in stock, the when we ordered it....poof... unavailable.
I was looking at the crap one that I removed from the car and noticed that the seal rotates with the shaft, the whole seal, the metal external part that is supposed to be pressed into the body of the unit, all of it rotates with the shaft.
I ordered a vented cap and rotor on line so I can modify the new one to be a vented unit, I just need to come up with a filter/restrictor for the vacuum line.

I have been having a shaking issue with ths car. @ say 2100 rpms the motor shakes. I've come to the conclusion that it must be the opti. I had none of this trouble until my old opti died. I chose to give a Rich Porer unit a try but it hasn't worked out so well. I have a good deal on a msd unit, so tear down will begin on sunday. At least this will rule out the opti one way or another.
