Yeah i was just thinking that for $35.99 for those 7.195 rods would be a great deal

On top of that sunshine they aren't even hardened. You need hardened when using guide plates.Originally posted by Yoshi94Mines about an inch bigger than Kyles. I need to get one of thosesigpicOriginally posted by ryanwarby01Put it this way, if you have a money tree a LT1 is a wood chipper!

Ideally, you need to use a pushrod length check tool. But (lucky for all us Dutch folk) this cam swap has been done tens of thousands of times.
Guide plates, hardened pushrods, NSA rockers. Get the recommended length unless you are doing a hefty mill on the heads. You want make sure the rocker is running on the center of the valve stem.
I was told older SBC heads require the machining when doing guides and screw in studs, I've heard LT1 aluminum heads do not. Don't quote me on this, I skipped from GenI to GenIII
My Edelbrock heads for my IROC came with guide plates and screw in studs installed.

As stated, screw in rocker studs are a must. Once you start running aftermarket valvtrain components you will need to re-establish pushrod length. http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles...h/viewall.html I made my own check tool by cutting a stock pushrod in half, removing 1/2", and tapping the insides and using a piece of threaded rod. I wouldn't run that setup without guide plates. Depending what length pushrods you end up needing, I have a couple sets of different length hardened pushrods. What are you using for valve springs?

If you're going with the CC503 cam, though, you should be fine with stock pushrod length. I never used a check tool and just went with stock length and I was OK.- Brian Meissen

I think stock pushrod length should be fine too. From what i know the heads have not been milled or anything so i should be good with that length. When the time comes for the cam i will get new lifters and all, i just figured i could save myself some time down the road if i get my springs and rockers installed now...So i take it Chromoly rods are a must when using guideplates? Would regular hardened rods that claim they can be used with guideplates sheer off or bind on the plates? Also tb2 im going to run pac, do you have 7.20 rods for sale?Last edited by Bentley; August 13th, 2013, 02:16 PM.95 T/A m6, cc503, harland sharp 1.6 rr, long tube pacesetters wrapped, 3" cutout, K&N, Moog suspension
