Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

I have read on a few other sites, that stock rocker arm studs must be machined flat on top for poly locks to fully engage or lock properly is this true? i plan on using p/n 12371058 But i really don't feel the need to grind down the tops of the studs unless it's completely necessary. Any input would be nice thanks
I had a lot of questions i should of asked you that one day. Honestly i think if i didn't flatten the tops of the studs i would be safe. I just didn't know if there was any extra risk of the locks backing off if the studs weren't perfectly flat. I plan on going with scorpion 1.6 s/a rockers, they seem like a nice little set
Don't go SA - go NSA. With SA you're relying on little bumps on either side of where the valve stem rides to align the rockers -- I've seen too many SA rockers jump off the valve stem at higher RPMs and mess up people's motors. I'd rather have the insurance of NSA with the guideplates making sure everything is aligned.
The deal breaker for me and using guide plates is that push rods have to be hardened and I know hardened push rods are pretty expensive. Otherwise I would but im on a tight budget

The hardened pushrods I bought for my cc503 cam swap was $120, guideplates another $20. IMO worth it rather than getting an aggressive cam with SA rockers and then having to rebuild your engine when the rocker pops off the valve...
True, and you're probably right I see many people running hardened push rods and guide plates with nsa rockers. It would be the way to go and a bit safer, im just on such a tight budget right now. Maybe I can get lucky and find someone on here with used equipment for sale. If not I think I can get away with running s/a's with the 503 I wouldn't go any bigger though
SBC heads are different.
SBC heads usually have pressed in studs, so you have to machine them down and tap them to fit the screw in studs.
Some guideplates will require you to cut them and then weld them back together.
Scorpions I have seen some bad things from them, best bet is Comp Cams Pro Mags.

Put it this way, if you have a money tree a LT1 is a wood chipper!
Like Brian has said nsa is the way to go... even though you're on a budget, the absolute last place you want to skimp on is the valvetrain... as stated before comp pro mags and crane golds are both good rockers. maybe wait just a bit and get the cash to get the right valvetrain in your motor and you will thank yourself.
I will have to check summit out and see what comp and crane have. Im not in a real big rush i plan on doing it in a couple of months so i will go over all my options. I figured it would of been ok to use s/a rockers, they used them in the lt4, granted the hot cam is a bit smaller then the 503. I will keep an eye out and see what i can find out there i just started looking for rr
Upon further research, to run nsa rockers is not as expensive as i once thought. I know that stock push rod length is 7.20 but would 7.195 be ok to use? i was looking at comp 7808-16 rods they are 7.195. Im also wondering what the best fitting guide plates are?
