  • lt1 tuning

So now that I have my cable and tunerpro reading my pcm I need to get a few things sorted out with my car. I want to tune the air/egr/evap out the right way and get rid of the CEL's. But I don't know how, I do have winflash and will be saving my tune after work tomorrow just in case. I'll toss in a pic of my dash as the car was running earlier to see if anything seems off to anyone.

I know I have a KS code 43 not sure why, going to pick up a new sensor even though the one in it is only a few months old... Other thing I see is the right o2 is reading way lower than the left, bad sensor? I have 24" extensions on the car.

    It's a 95 lt1 auto
LT's, ORY, slp lid swap, lm2, a/c delete and that's it.

You'll need to use WinFlash to "read" the tune - it will save the tune locally on your computer. Then you open the tune up in TunerPro RT and go to the Flags. You'll want to turn off the flags for the air/egr/evap, but I can't remember the right names off the top of my head. EGR will be obvious, then there's like CCP or something like that... can't remember, maybe EVAP is obvious too. Then just save the tune and write it using WinFlash.

I had the unbalanced O2 issue when i used a bosch (junk) in one side and a delco in the other.

I'll be ordering new o2's for it friday most likely, and a new KS/pcv valve. Is the flags the easy way of turning off the ses light or is there values that need to be 0'd in the tune itself?

Some people say you have to change the EGR values but truth be told my tune doesn't appear to have the values changed. Do you need to know what the flags are? I'm home now so I can pull them up if you need.

ok so I turned the flags off for AIR/EGR/EVAP and the A/C since it's gone too. I have a code 43 with I know is KS, and I'm getting spark retard with small free revs in park... The car has been getting horrid mpg lately and I think this is why, but not sure. Going to get a KS after work tomorrow I hope, or order it on Amazon Sat.

My knock count should not be that high either right?

That will definitely cause bad MPGs, it basically pulls timing everytime that happens.

Thought so, well new Delco sensor it is then. May bite the bullet and buy one from autozone or w/e if they have one. I put a Standard one in it in April. I have a small list of things to fix Sunday if I can swing it this week.

Knock count is a tricky little bastard when logging - it doesn't mean you're really knocking, it's just detecting what it thinks is a knock condition. Pay more attention to knock retard. I've had logs show knock count way over 20,000, but my knock retard was 0.0 the whole time.

Edit: Since you're data logging with DataMaster instead of Tuner Pro, it's "Spark Retard"

Yeah if you're actually seeing retard, then the new KS might be in order. I just wouldn't pay attention to the knock count, 'cause that can go up without any retarding.

I saw it get 1 or 2 in spark retard when i reved it to about 2k. I have the KS code anyhow, so I'm going to put a new delco one in, i checked my wire to the KS it's still clipped on too. Next is the volt test

Unless your getting a high amount of knock during high engine loads don't worry about it. what the computer thinks is knock during low load conditions is more then likely just noise that the crappy lt1 knock mod cant filter and wont hurt the engine. As far as o2 readings being split what numbers are you seeing? If you get a large split in readings it could be a vacuum leak, exhaust leak pre o2, bad o2 sensor or a few other things. I would invest in a good wideband if you don't have one and already and get a real afr data and see how the engine is running.

Refer to post 1 for o2 readings, a WBo2 is not in the budget right now. But I will be getting a tune asap, and a gauge pod/gauges. Going to run oil pressure, WBO2, and not sure what to run for the 3rd honestly. Suggestions? I have a vac gauge already installed.
