story on the shortblock. i just put in a used shortblock for this year and pretty sure its a rod knock.
The Setup:
15k on shortblock (5k on rod bolts)
ARP2000 Rod bolts (oversizing of big end of rod done )
Flycut Pistons
Brian Tooley SLR lifters
Raptr Cam (615/615, 236/242, 111)
Stock length Pushrods (comp)
Stock Rocker Arms
Dual valve springs
Rotella T6 oil changed 2k after i installed the shortblock
heres the noise
the oil pressure is steady. a little low when warm at 20psi. i dont see any glitter in the oil.
i noticed the knock after going to norwalk. only could hear it 3000rpsm and above when in gear. if i revved it i didnt hear it. i drove it another day and it got worse and does it all the time now. now it sits.
pushrods are all straight. rocker needle bearings are not blown. havent done a proper lifter test yet(not sure of how) vacuum is steady so i dont suspect a valve is bent. valve springs are ok.
its possible the rod bolts werent done right but they have a total of 8000 miles on them and now i have an issue. took that long to have an issue??
i know asking whats wrong with my car over the internet isnt the best way figure it out. im looking for some opinions and tests i can do before tearing it all apart to confirm what it is. i only got to drive the car for a little over a month.
a lot of ppl say rod knock. a few have thought its too fast to be a rod knock. i tried unplugging a coil at a time while it was idling. the knock didnt change. any help is appreciated
