i replaced the destroyed passenger head gasket on my 95 lt1 m6 formula the weekend before the M&G. ever since then it idles around 1500 at start up then calms to about 1000 when it warms up, which is still high. it's throwing the SES light, which im supposed to be able to read with my laptop and mdi from work with the tech 2 software DL, but it's a PIA and wont work. im gonna try taking it over to one of the local chevy dealers to read it this week. anyone know what this could be tho? i did the vacuum leak test and it passed, im thinking IAC valve but not sure. help?

High idle could be a vacuum leak. If you're sure everything is plugged in, have you tried spraying some carb cleaner around the side you were working on and see if the idle changes?- Brian Meissen

Rolo recommended i tune my flux capacitor down to about 15-18 jigawatts and it should fix my problem. does anybody closer to me have a tuner i can borrow for the day? im in roseville. mines running 26 at startup and drops to 22-23 when warm, causing my high idle. im assuming it should fix my 88 mph shake too. any thoughts?sigpic

^ what he said. Had the same problem when I changed my intake. Used the carb cleaner to figure out that it was a vacuum leak, pulled the intake off and rebolted it. Problem solved.Originally posted by meissen View PostHigh idle could be a vacuum leak. Got the new connector on and it idles perfectly! The ses light shut off aswell. I cleaned out the tb as best i could with the tools i had. Next thing now is the oil pressure sensor connector. I have it ordered, but i can't find the other two wires that go to it. I figured the single brown wire i felt poking out of the wire harness was it, but after investigating the open pressure sensor and seeing it had 3 prongs rather than 1, i have to rethink this. What colors are the 3 wires going to the sensor on your guys' cars?sigpic

If I remember right, some years had a single wire and others had 3 wire. Single wire being a sender, 3 wire being a sender and a switch. Pretty sure brown is the wire color for the oil pressure gauge.

Center wire. 3 wire pigtail should fit the single wire sender. Wire is light brown/tan. They do have single wire pigtails though
