• car lost power, stumbled and had no throttle response after stop n go in the rain.

first time ever my car has done this, we got stopped on 94 for a bit in the rain earlier today and after i'd say 30 mins of it the car started to bog down, stutter, and had zero power and no throttle response. Then poof it would clear up and then right back to doing it... once we got back to above 30 mph it acted fine again, after i spun the car it started its shit again cuz i shut it off on the side of the road. It never once got hot, or even over 200 idling in traffic. fans run all the time, just not sure why all the sudden it would act up when it's been cake for 2k miles. I know the plug going into the top of the opti has a broken clip, opti has maybe 5k on it now, coil and icm are new. I think it's time to space it out from the head though as i did not know about that mod till after i put it all back together.

    Ideas?

The car is parked in the garage till it gets tires and i yank the broken plastic shit off it. I'll be checking for any loose wires later today.

When you say the fans run all the time - do you mean that you have it tuned to run all the time? Do you have any SES codes?

I've never touched the PCM in this car at all, pulled it out for the year it sat and before that motor came out the rans never worked, now they run almost all the time the car is on. Only SES codes I know I have would be for the AIR/EVAP being gone, I plugged the EGR back in just to stop the code. I don't have the cable to scan it, but I have a working laptop and datamaster now lol.

Have you repled plugs and wires ? have you ever put some cleaner through the fuel system ? It sounds like its loaded up with fuel either lack of spark or poor fuel spray from the injectors. Maybe a sticking pressure regulator ?

Car has new TR55, new wires, and was parked for a year with a full tank of gas. I need to seafoam it for sure. New fuel filter is on the list, but I found what I think may have been the cause. I had an o2 extension come loose and was on the ground. Zip tied it back up and no more issues so far. meissen bring the aldl cable to WW friday if your going to be out if you would be so kind sir.

We can add longer crank times to it now, taking longer to fire up. Starting to think it may be a fuel issue, it did set for a year with a tank of 93/110 leaded race gas in it. Time to do a fuel filter, I do have another fuel rail and injectors if I have to swap stuff around.

I had the fuel pump check ball spring come apart on mine and had a hella ext. crank. cycle the key a few times then go for a start and see what happens

I'll check it tomorrow, it's hidden in the garage with the rain and such coming. the bounce off the wall on the highway could have knocked something loose.

Battery ground was ripped right out of its little mounting piece that goes to the front of the motor mount bracket, which is I'm sure what was shorting the car out and causing my no start/long crank issue. But the car still runs with it like that, which is odd...

Sounds like a dying fuel pump to me. Put a pressure gauge on the rail and check it. Also my car had a long crank issue for 2 full seasons and when the fuel pump died a new one solved that problem.

Yeah if the fuel pump isn't getting enough pressure to the lines then it's going to take awhile to crank.

I think in my case the issue was a check valve but what you said is still definitely true.

Indeed -- try turning the key to the on position (before cranking) a few times which will trigger the fuel pump to prime each time... then turn it to crank and see if it fires up faster.

Sometimes it does sometimes it does not, I'm fixing the ground cable this afternoon and going to see what happens. Then if it continues I'll put a tester to it and see. Not really looking forward to a FP swap, but hey if it needs it.

If you're going to do a fuel pump swap, do it the right way and cut a trap door in the trunk.
