    longtubes are longtubes

BBK IMO is the best bang for buck. $332 shipped for LT's and ORY, and the merge on the BBK Y is a good one
    LS6 Intake $270-$350 (I got mine for $275)

Could go for a bigger air lid, bigger maf to accompany the lid,TUNE,ram air, cutouts, nitrous haha..the possibilites are endless..just depends on how deep your pockets are at the moment

Its about a grand in all. Then there's the headers and a good dyno tune is $500. So, if you could find someplace to do the install, you're looking at about $3000. At least. The 224r cam (go to texas speed online) is a good daily driver cam with a nice sound and manners. Makes good power too. I made 375rwhp on a Mustng dyno.
This is exactly the route that I would go if I were you Aaron. Perfect cam for a little bump in power, have it sound good, and you won't have to rev it to the moon to make power. That way you aren't risking it coming apart with a little higher mileage and the 98 rod bolts

Thanks for breaking it down more for me and giving me a round about on prices. I will start purchasing parts for now that way I can do the install in the spring time.

That price sounded kinda high but advice was good. When ever you add power the mains and rod bearings will get stressed, so he quoted new heads, tune, headers and obviously redoing crank etc. I think you could find a good shop to do that for 8 to 10 grand.

Don's prices are pretty close! If you're willing to spend some time, LSx cams can be found new for about $325-$350 with a bit of searching. Sman on this board has a used 224r cam if you wanted to go a bit cheaper. PAC springs are nice and can be found for less than Comps. Hardened push rods are worth the peace of mind - use a length checker before ordering them though. LS2 timing chain set is very nice, pretty stout compared to the earlier ones.
            New head bolts - $55
            New GM gaskets - $65
            New balancer bolt - $15

The prices are just what I seen while surfing. I've found cheaper on ebay and took full advantage of it I did go with ARP balancer bolt though ~$35
Question for you guys: I've read that the oil pumps were the same from the 4.8/5.3/5.7/6.0 except for the more unique engines like the LSA and such, is this true? Maybe 6.2 variants got an upgrade? I don't plan on changing any of my oil pumps though

since you aren't doing anything till spring, check the classifieds on LS1tech.com I found my cam and springs on there (both brand new) for $400 shipped. Was originlly looking for a 228r, but for that money, I jumped on this. There are deals to be found.
