  • bearing squeal under hood???

after my hour drive home tonight from work with the bird i pulled into a gas station near home and got out leaving the car running cause i was just going in for a second. shut the door and start walking away from the car when i hear a harsh squeal come from under the hood. run back to the car and first check my oil pressure gauge which was right it should be at idle and operating temp. shut the car off. popped the hood and looked and saw nothing out of the ordinary. proceeded into store and back out. got in car, held my breath and started it again. nothing. leaving the parking lot it did it again for a quick second. got it home and popped the hood with it running. nothing. shut it off and let it cool down while i ate dinner. went back out and reached in and turned the key. it started and stalled, and again and again. got in turned the key and touched the gas slightly and it fired up. let it run for a couple minutes with no noises. turned the car around to back into the garage and right before i turned it off it did it again. got out looked and tried to pinpoint the noise but couldnt. sounds like maybe a pulley bearing, water pump (newer), or thought possibly even the balancer coming apart? i dk. i will let it sit a couple days and try again. think ill pull the belt and start and see if it still exist.

oh yeah i need a headlight motor and power antenna if anyone has one

    thanks

take belt off and start it up, if no noise then its definately a bearing/pulley noise ive seen a few tensioner pulleys go bad. then id spin all the pulleys and see which ones makin the noise unless you hav a stethoscope or screwdriver usually works

either do anthonys method or spray a little wd40 or grease behind the pulley with the straw they come with so non gets on the belt. when it stops squeaking you know which pulley it is.
