another oil thread sorry guys

so in my ls1 im currently running 5w30 m1 synthetic.

im doing my first oil change on it tomorrow and want to quite it a little or put something in a little thicker

but i have read no good to run 40w. but people do it with success.

its only going to be driven in the summer and started once and a while in the winter

so what do you guys think?

GC is what I run...fwiw it seems thick for a 30w

With the bearing tolerances these engines have is small and that is one reason the manufacture recommends the thinner oil. Bearings designed for it. I would not use thicker oil in my LS1.

GC is actually Castrol Syntec with "Made in Germany" on the label. It only comes in 0w30. The other weights are not considered GC

yea thats what i just read =/ is 0w at start up okay?

im reading all this stuff on oil and just dont know lol just about to put what in it back in it just wanted to test something else out

I FOUND IT it was hiding.behind a display at autozone went back n talked to my buddy n we found it after the other guy said they didn't gabe it earlier
