  • Heater core...Important for a fair weather driver?

I have very little experience with heater cores. I do know, when they have gone bad, I will get condensation on the inside of my windows, but other than that, any draw backs for a car that is driven in good michigan weather, and not daily driven?

Trying to figure out if I will completely remove mine or replace it, just to be safe, before an engine is installed.

You don't need one but I will tell you this - I had the heater core bypassed in my 69 Chevelle due to a small leak and the early morning drives to school were a *****!

I would keep the heater core on anything other than an all out race car (i.e. never driven on the street)

You need it for defrost and cool mornings and evenings. Just me but I would never remove heat or A/C on any street driven car. Same as never buy a car without both.

Wam air is a must for defogging windows in the rain.

You will have no problems bypassing the heater core. Its not "needed".

But as others have said you better carry a rag to wipe those windows down if they start fogging up.

If its really that cool to worry about windows fogging up then I'm guessing he won't drive it. my car is getting the heater box and other junk removed and won't even worry about it since it will only be driven when it's 70+ out

My windows were fogging up earlier this week going into work - in June. That was at 4:30am though. If you don't ever drive before 10 am then you should be fine
