A/C Compressor Clutch Replacement?

Has anybody replaced the clutch on their a/c compressor? Mine started going last weekend, and it looks like a new one is $330 and a rebuilt is $230, and I can really afford either right now. The compressor still works fine, so I see no need to replace it. I just want to know how bad it is to do, as I see that a clutch is $124 and a clutch bearing is $35.

edit: can a mod put "clutch" between "compressor" and "replacement" please? I am a dumb arse

I didnt actually do the work, but I took mine to a local place in town. Parts and labor was $160 out the door. Worked great for years after that, still have it out in the barn I think?

there are special tools to replace the clutch but it isn't rocket science.

Pretty simple. Just need the special tool for it. Kinda like pulling a power steering pump pulley

i also have one thats always in my way in the garage. if everything falls thru, its yours
