  • 1994camaro death? help please

so i thought it was just the headgasket so i was going to replace it, but when i got the valve covers off it looks like one of the rods bent and destroyed the head on the driver side...should i continue and replace the head or is it too late for this f body? i need to know if i should part it out now...it has a t56 and alot of good parts but this is my only car so if someone has an extra ride sitting around that works, and you need a parts car let me know lol

How much do you want for it? Miles? Anything else wrong with it?

Sounds like a simple fix - just a head and replace the broken parts?

if it broke a rod and busted the head then that would require teardown of the entire engine and having the rotating assembly rebuilt as well as the deck checked for flatness and a new head.

Are we talking piston rod or push rod?

As far as I know, there is no way to tell if the piston rod is bent just by taking the valve cover off And a bent piston rod wouldn't allow the piston to hit the head, it would actually keep it further away.

That's exactly why I was curious. To me it sounds like he's talking about a bent push rod. Not to mention I've personally never heard of bent piston rods on an otherwise stock LT1. Bent push rod on the other hand is more likely.

Do not cut it, they are quick connects, you need a special tool which you can get at just about any auto parts store.

I have two sets of extra pushrods, you can have one if you need it, but you're kinda far away.
