Well Started the camaro the other day and noticed it was over heating. I decided to change the thermostat today and busted one of the bolts off in the upper intake manifold. I have tried heating the bolt and the surrounding are but it's a no go, there is some of the bolt sticking out that I tried to grab with vice grips, but it's seized in there pretty good. I need some ideas because the car is supposed to be going to the painter tomorrow! any ideas would be appreciated!

In the upper manifold? You mean in the thermostat housing? Take a smaller drill be and drill the center of the bolt out and then take an easy out and put it into it.Originally posted by Yoshi94Mines about an inch bigger than Kyles. I thought about that but it's seized pretty good. I tried to pull it out with vice grips, but it will not move. there is about a quarter of an inch of the bolt sticking out. I just can't get it to turn. It's frozen in there pretty good.

Put some penetrating oil on it. Let it soak in. The easy outs are reverse threads so the more you torque out the more it bites in.Originally posted by Yoshi94Mines about an inch bigger than Kyles. easy out, weld a nut on it, they make new wrenches that as the keep slipping they bite into it more and more, never used one so your guess on those is about as good as mine. you say its frozen try soaking it heavily with some liquid wrench or pb blaster or something, then take a few hits on the head with a hammer not hard one but maybe the shock will loosen things up a bit.
ive had plenty of experience with stripped bolts.
if none of those work i guarantee a oxy acetylene torch getting the metal nice n cherried and the easy out will pop that sucker right out91 Trans am, 305, Lt1 cam, 24lb injectors, headers, SLP LM2, SW chassis, massive panhard, lowered, modded TPI, Tuned, 4.10s, Lincoln locked

Another old school method is heating it up and using wax.
The wax wicks into the threads and helps to rotate the bolt out.

gotta hate broken bolts. if you use an easy out, make sure to drill your hole perfectly straight. you only have one chance at it. good luck! broken bolts suck.98 z28, m6, monster clutch, eibach pro kit, custom twin turbo setup, 317 heads, z06 valve springs, arp rod bolts, 512rwhp at 10lbs. cobra eater
