  • 108 octane questions

so i have a question regarding 108 octane or whatever true blue racing fuel is. i filled up the truck and my neighbor waved me down, he showed me his newest piece he made on the cnc mill and then proceeded to ask me ifi wanted some racing fuel, so i took it and threw a little in the truck gas tank, well the thing runs great it wont idle for crap but runs fantastic after the first 10 minutes of driving. the reason i say first 10 minutes is because in that time it billows nasty smoke out the exhaust and it smells like hell. im assuming its all the nasty deposits that have been in the engine but what do all you guys think?

Prolly nasty old gas that's why he gave it to ya. We drained the mud trucks cell before starting after sitting for 4 months and it smelt like nasty piss!

That was c16 tho but it should have the same concept. I would say it was bad.

i was assured that it wast that old, but i also dont know how quickly that kinda stuff goes bad. if it were to have boosted the octane in the gas than would the same thing happen if i ran top grade regular gasoline? instead of low

Idk I would just run premium. Idk I think old race gas is bad. I wouldn't run snymore of it.

that could clog up your injectors. 1st think they do when you take injectors in is smell them to see if bad gas sitting in them. Best just use that gas to start your BBQ grill. LOL

Pretty sure its turbo blue, but whatever. Im pretty sure some of that crap has lead in it, which can kill o2 sensors.

              Lead will kill the o2's
the added octane will be hard to ignite when cold. Most street fuels are also reblended around sep/oct as winter blend do it will ignite

is less than a gallon of it gonna do all that, i dont really have any o2 sensors anyways so that wont cause an issue. i feel like its just alot of carbon buildup thats being shot out know or something

I wouldn't of even risked it/wasted it in your truck.

Could of had more fun lighting it on fire in a bottle or something.

Used to have problems with race gas fouling spark plugs on occasion. Used to have to mix a couple of gallons with a tank full of unleaded premium. This was after the good stuff (Sunoco 260) was no longer available.

found out the stuff i got was premixed with premium, so the small amount that was in there shouldnt be causing this issue, plus my truck decided its gonna act up all together so im about to run it off a cliff

Leaded fuel will ruin plugs or o2s fairly quick.

Change them both and dont run race fuel again lol. Gets to be more pain than its worth.

i guess the truck doesnt like it as much as the camaro used to. we used to run leaded fuel in that alot back in the day. i also think i had bad gas to begin with my friend said he just had a similar issue with the same gas station i went to, so that might explain why im smoking so much. i thought it was a bad gasket but my plugs all look the same and theres no oil in my coolant or coolant in my oil.
