id give a napa one a shot before spending a bunch of money on it... My original unit is still hanging in there after I overboiled the original 100k mile fluid 4 times.
Is your cooler install done now? I'd like to see it, I need to get one of those on mine before spring.-Joel

hahaha. Mine goes through whining spells every now and then but it tends to recover. Have you tried just driving it a bit?-Joel

What other accesories are on the front of the motor? I run a KRC ps pump and serpintine pulley setup. I also run my hydroboost off of it. It's made to take the abuse, fully adjustable and a ton lighter.

Probably your best bet is to purchase either a low mileage boneyard pump from the same LT-1 F Car engine, or purchase one from GM. (Vette LT1/LT4 uses a different pump which is better for racing applications)
Many of the aftermarket and reman pumps are so-so when it comes to rebuilding these properly. Based on a few local "Reman PS pump" companies the contents inside are laughable, mis-matched, and hodge podge. I've custom built several for racing and laughed at what people pay for a "Racing" pump.
What exactly has been failing with your pump?
To be honest, the pump you have is darn near indistructable - you may have something else going on like a restricted line, or incorrect mounting location.
It could also be a failing belt tensioner too.
Belt Load pull on a power steering pump is Critical. You have to make sure you get a pump from the same application otherwise the pump will fail quickly and start leaking.
Many reman units have been found to mix and match applications not knowing how critical this is.
Stay clear of Napa.Last edited by TrickyTransAm; February 7th, 2012, 12:20 PM.
