Help my daily driver/ beater starting to overheat!
I just did a tune up on the car everything except fuel filter and coolant flush about 600miles ago. The ac/heat always worked fine but right now when turning on the heat the cars temp starts to climb fast! It's a 99' Oldsmobile alero, like 180k miles. I need the sucker to get me through the winter. Where should I take it to hopefully fix the problem for cheap? Any help is appreciated. I'm hope there's no major damage
Well I let someone borrow the car yesterday and they decided to check the coolant but didnt tighten the cap all the way. This caused a nice smoke show! :angry:

Should I go ahead and just flush the coolant? I was planning on doing that this year too.
Btw my fuel lines are absolutely rusted I was too scared to change the filter. It all looked so brittle so I didn't touch it. Where should I get new lines from? How to change the lines out?
if you dont want to bend your own lines, contact inlinetube. they are on like 21 and garfield and if you give them a template they will make the lines for you in oem or stainless. otherwise bend and flae them yourself. as for the overheating i would do a change on the systems fluids, drain the coolant and make sure theres no air pockets, check to make sure your tstat is opening properly while your at it, if its still occuring then check your coolant temp sensor
Sounds like air pocket, or thermostat. I would change the thermostat since you have to drain antifreeze to change it. put in new antifreeze. Sensor only controls gauge, doubt if thats your problem.

1998 Trans Am Convertible A4 - WS6 hood, WS6 air lid, WS6 rims, drilled/slotted rotors.
The fuel lines can come loose if you take your time with time. Try some PB Blaster on them and keep soaking the lines for a few days. If your coolant is dirty then a flash would be ok to do.
Ok well heres what happened. I grabbed a jug of antifreeze and went to check the reservoir. It was completely empty! Filled up with the whole jug and its keeping good temp now! I'm still going to do flush and use quality antifreeze ASAP. But this did the job for now.
